The Night of the Stars is one of the most anticipated astronomical events for astronomy enthusiasts worldwide. In 2025, it was held in Guatemala for the first time, although it is an international event also celebrated in countries such as Mexico and Colombia. The event took place on Saturday, November 29, at Erick Barrondo Sports Park, with free admission and the participation of more than 40 telescopes for nighttime sky observation.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the National Secretariat of Science and Technology (SENACYT) and more than 20 public, private, and academic institutions.

The QUETZAL-2 project is a CubeSat-type nanosatellite that aims to advance Guatemala’s technological and innovation capabilities. During the event, Héctor Gómez, Project Manager of the project, presented the development methodology and the subsystems that make up the satellite, highlighting the importance of building a new Guatemalan satellite.
