Ricardo Paz is a Mechanical Engineer focused on product research and development. He participated in the design of the antenna deployment mechanism (ADM) for QUETZAL-1, Guatemala’s first satellite. He currently advises the mechanical development of several QUETZAL-2 subsystems.

He works as a research and development engineer at Tilco Trading LTD, where he focuses on consumer product design for the medical sector. Throughout his career, he has participated in the development of multiple products and technologies across different sectors. Additionally, he works as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG).

His interest in technology and education has led him to participate in high-impact projects for the country, such as QUETZAL-1 and QUETZAL-2.
